The Association of Association Executives looks at Stategy
I met Damian Hutt when Association Executives, a UK based association education and support organisation, began hosting conferences in South Africa, to reach the associations in Africa. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking at AAE congresses a few times, and thoroughly enjoy the engagement with other association executive and the opportunity to learn more about this interesting field.
Damian and I discussed the various decisions that associations are facing with the impact of COVID-19. Included in our conversation, is how association executives are experiencing stress, how they still have the responsibility of caring for members and the organisation, and the multitude of decisions they constantly need to face.
We also explored the impact of the annihilation of public, live, in-person events, not only on training but specifically for conferences that are often the pain income generation tool for associations.
UPDATE: Through 2020 it has been wonderful watching how the Association of Association Executives has responded with relevant and valuable training via webinars and their experimentation with various delivery platforms and their own regional congresses. It has been very encouraging seeing their responses and the support and encouragement for their members.
