Lessons from 217 Years of Association

Sid Peimer

The Cape Chamber of Commerce has been operating for 217 years, through two World Wars, 9/11, all the recessions, South Africa’s first democratic elections, and countless other historic milestones. For an organisation with a history like that, the challenges of COVID-19 will become one more crisis that they have weathered, one more event through which they have supported their members and represented business interests in this part of the world.

Sid Peimer is the current Executive Director of the Cape Chamber and has helped the staff and members move online, connect, and support each other through this situation. While COVID might be unprecedented, what has been learned through previous unprecedented experiences has helped them to cope and thrive.

Listen in to Sid Peimer’s insights about resilience, strategy and mental health issues in this episode of Associations Edition.
