No Neuro-Nonsense

Dr. Lynda Shaw is a neuroscientist, psychologist, and change management expert. Just the sort of person we need to listen to when we are learning about the future. She is also the President-Elect of the Professional Speakers Association of the UK and Ireland, so we are colleagues in that respect.

Lynda and I shared a rich and interesting conversation about how our perceptions are formed, how incredibly different they are to other people’s perceptions, and how when we don’t recognise these differences in how we see issues, we encounter major communication problems.

We also unpacked how our creativity and innovation are linked to how we think about how we think, another major element of futures thinking.

‘Neuro-nonsense’ is how Lynda describes some of society’s prevailing thoughts about how our brains work, so if you want some real insight and not comfortable, cute, and incorrect sound bites, then listen in to this podcast.

Applied neuroscience is paving the way in changing business behaviour for the better. Once we understand that the brain changes behaviour and behaviour changes the brain, we are empowered to meet change ‘head on’ and take control of well-thought-out business decisions with immediate positive effect.

Lynda is an experienced entrepreneur, having owned 3 businesses. She holds a doctorate in cognitive neuroscience, specialising in unconscious processing of emotion and behavioural change. She works with senior leaders and their teams who want to better understand the science of change and development and then harness this power through heightened awareness of how their brain works, limiting beliefs and how to take charge of one’s behavior for the better in this fast-changing world.

She is founder of the Neuroscience Professional Development Programme, which is designed to help professionals use applied neuroscience in their work. Lynda’s presentations are always informative, fun and extremely practical.
